Record auction price achieved for Brandt Over the past years, photography prices have continue to climb at auction. In 1998, a record £304,000 was paid in Christie's New York for a Man Ray. Five of the top 10 auction prices are by Man Ray and he was out in front once again at the November 2005 auctions at Christie's in Paris. Bill Brandt was not left out however, as November saw the highest price ever paid for a Brandt at auction, with his famous Nude London 1952 going for £44,538 ($76,000) not including buyer's premium of 20%. I still believe that these prices are soon to go much higher. Evaluating photos can be difficult but the guys at iphotocentral are there to help.

"The art world is familiar with Brandt's small-sized prints, but our show wanted to contrast oversized Epson prints with some of the smaller vintage prints from Brandt's time," said David Fahey, gallery director at the Fahey/Klein Gallery in Los Angeles.
David Adamson on Bill Brandt I think for anybody entering the art market, buying a Bill Brandt is a safe bet.
