Short reading list
You can pick up the list here, but from then on it's down to the library. Sadly you see, a lot of the books are out of print. But don't worry, they are available somewhere. You will be able to find out more about his camera and history by a quick dip into the local library. If they do not have the book then get in touch with us and we will try to help In the meantime, see our special reading list.
Timeline
This includes a rare article written by him called 'A Statement' in which he talks about his own likes, dislikes and working methods.
Previous exhibitions
Brandt has been exhibited over many years, but for such a well known photographer frankly not so many times as others like Ansel Adams and Cartier-Bresson. If you just can't remember that last show, find out who hung what here.
Exhibition Reviews
We know some people just love Brandt but others are not so keen. Picked or panned, we give you the whole picture.
Book reviews
Brandt A Life, the authorised biography by Paul Delany is the prime research manual on Brandt, but we can also suggest the larger picture book, Brandt: The Photography of Bill Brandt, as well as Aperture's recently reprinted Behind The Camera
Films
Films are in short supply. Sadly there just isn't a lot on film. Brandt was a bit of hermit and never really came out of his shell until he was pushed into making a couple of interviews by his wife, Noya just before he died. One is Steven Dwoskin's 'Shadows from Light' which was made in 1983. Please ask Channel 4 in London for a copy from the Luxonline.
