Who is the greatest photographer of all time?
Amateur Photographer, the oldest photographic magazine in the UK posed this question in their current collector's edition for December 1999.
In a whimsical survey, several experts in their field were assembled to give their verdict. Ranging from Mark Hayworth-Booth, curator of photographs at the V&A Museum, London to well known photographer David Bailey, each member of the panel gave their top ten photographers.
When all the votes were counted a clear winner emerged, yet some important photographers were clearly missing and this should not be taken as a definitive survey.
We are pleased to announce that Bill Brandt came in the top 10 greatest photographers of all time!
