An obsession brought to life. For half his career Brandt obsessed with photographing nudes. His payoff was that he is credited with taking the genre into a new area mainly thanks to his use of a small aperture wide angle Kodak camera, enabling him "to see like a mouse a fish or a fly". The inevitable warps distortions and abstractions that this produced impart an eerie beauty and surrealist feel to his pictures.
A small run. Only 1,000 copies will ever be produced. Mark Haworth-Booth, former senior curator & photographic historian at London's Victoria & Albert Museum has written an eloquent introduction to each section and as a lifelong expert on Bill Brandt, brings these once radical pictures to life once more. We have used rare vintage prints and negatives from the Archive, and the book is produced to an exacting standard, with over 140 duotone images.
Available in standard or deluxe. Buy the standard edition or order one of the 100 deluxe copies which include a platinum print hand crafted by Max & Paul Caffell. All books come with a luxury hand built presentation case.
