We are delighted to announce the opening of a major Bill Brandt retrospective at the Fundación MAPFRE in Barcelona. The exhibition will be installed at the foot of the Mapfre Tower, in a 1,400 square meter space renovated for the occasion.

This large retrospective uses 186 vintage photographs by Bill Brandt , and covers all genres of his photographic output: social reportage, portraiture, landscape and nudes. Significantly, it is the first exhibition covering Brandt that highlights the relationship of the British photographer's work with the theories of surrealism, a movement with which Brandt came into contact during formative stay in Paris in the 1930s.

The exhibition, curated by Ramón Esparza, doctor in Communication Sciences and professor of Audiovisual Communication at the University of the Basque Country, has been produced by Fundación MAPFRE.

From October 9 2020 to January 24 2021
